eTransmittal Document Transfer & Tracking Software for Architecture, Engineering & Construction Firms Expands Presence to Europe

eTransmittal, a software service that helps architecture, engineering & construction (AEC) companies transfer & track large-file-size documents among geographically dispersed project team members, adds IT infrastructure in the U.K. to facilitate project management & document transfer between U.S.-based AEC firms and clients in Europe and Asia.

bWERX Inc., a Colorado-based developer of eTransmittal (www.etransmittal.com), a Web-based document transfer & tracking tool that simplifies, streamlines, and automates the exchange and tracking of architecture, engineering, and construction (AEC) documents, today announced that it has expanded its information technology infrastructure to the United Kingdom. Computing resources for eTransmittal have been added in the United Kingdom for two key reasons: 1) To facilitate use of eTransmittal document transfer technologies by architecture, engineering, and construction firms based in Europe and Asia; and 2) To facilitate easier, faster transfer of large-file-size documents from architecture, engineering, and construction firms based in the United States to their clients in Europe and Asia, and back.

"Given the economic conditions in the United States, more and more U.S.-based architecture, engineering, and construction firms have courted and won projects in Europe and Asia," explained Justin Culver, bWERX president and chief technology officer. "However, the AEC firms that have adopted this strategy to survive the economic downturn now face a unique set of challenges, given the distance to their clients and the time differences. First, the transfer of large-file-size documents such as architectural or construction drawings, or large images need to be transferred over those large distances. Second, communications and follow-up on document approvals usually don't happen in direct conversation because of the time differences," he said.

A document transfer and tracking technology such as eTransmittal addresses and mitigates the challenges of working with clients that are so far away, according to Culver.

eTransmittal Web-based software tool allows A/E/C firms to quickly, easily, and securely transmit and track large files of any type (drawings, PDFs, MS-Word documents, etc). eTransmittal is an affordable, more functional, and far more secure alternative to transmitting large documents manually (by courier or shipping), by email (which can't accept large file sizes and has no tracking functions), and by ftp sites (which often are difficult to use, and provide no tracking, and little to no security).

eTransmittal features:

  • Automated, secure document transmission
  • Automated document version tracking
  • Time- and date-stamped transmission audit trail
  • Automated alerting
  • Label-based document organization system for fast document searches
  • Document encryption for documents when stored and/or transmitted
